Established in September of 2003, Myopicus [ http://myopic.us ] is a periodically updated photoblog. The site includes contributions by myself, friends and family, some of whom are photographers, though many are not.

The site was originally developed to help me gain the skills in the new (to me) medium of digital photography and was important in helping to establish the methods that I continue to use. Some early experiments began as games that playfully explored elements of the digital process that I had never before had at my disposal.

In recent months, Myopicus has slowed considerably and stands today as a quiet visual space for displaying pictures without the surrounding interfaces that define the noisy visual web. I am also interested lately in collections of pictures in a single entry as a means of developing new ideas that are not constrained by the original scene in which the picture was taken.

Myopicus will likely continue to evolve as my interest and skills change over time so I am hesitant to make any kind of statement about what I want to achieve with the site. That's the best hope that I have and keeps me interested.
